Welcome to the McLaren - Macomb Emergency Medicine Residency
Established in 1985, our four year program is based at McLaren Medical
Center -Macomb, a 288-bed acute care hospital located in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.
Our hospital is a Level II trauma center and operates as one of the busiest
emergency departments in the area, treating more than 60,000 patients annually.
In addition, residents are exposed to tremendous diversity in clinical
pathology and patient populations by rotating at three other hospitals in the
metropolitan Detroit area: Sinai-Grace Hospital, Children’s Hospital of
Michigan and Beaumont Hospital. McLaren
is the largest osteopathic teaching system in the state of Michigan. Our
medical center, McLaren - Macomb, has
eight residency programs and three fellowship programs, which trains over 100
residents on an annual basis.
Our residency program provides you with the clinical skills,
knowledge base and decision-making ability that are essential to become an
outstanding clinician in the field of emergency medicine. This is accomplished
through clinical experience in a busy emergency department, as well as through
an excellent didactic program. Residents are supervised and taught by
board-certified emergency medicine physicians in a collegial and educational
environment. The residents are given graded responsibility for patient care and
develop significant autonomy, as they progress through their training. Upon completion of our residency program, you
will have the required clinical and leadership skills to excel in a busy
emergency department, regardless of setting.
McLaren-Macomb is a member of the Michigan State University
Statewide Campus System. The Statewide
Campus System includes 42 hospitals and academic members, providing educational
programs for osteopathic residents throughout Michigan. This gives our resident
an opportunity to participate in a variety of educational conferences focusing
on such topics as airway management, simulation lab, ultrasound and numerous
The residents, faculty and I are exceptionally proud of our
emergency medicine program. We continually strive to build and strengthen our
program that was successfully established over 20 years ago. Thank you for your
interest in the program and we welcome
you to contact us.
